The treatment of sarcoma patients is very complex and is always carried out on an interdisciplinary basis in cooperation with surgeons, radiation therapists and oncologists. In the interdisciplinary tumor board, the individually optimal multimodal therapy is jointly determined for each patient. The Oncology Department offers the entire treatment spectrum of system therapy, so neoadjuvant, adjuvant and palliative therapy concepts are applied clinically. In metastatic situations, the focus is on systemic therapy. In addition to established standard therapies, innovative therapeutic approaches are also used within the framework of or in accordance with national and international clinical studies, which are organized via the study center of our Oncology Department. Through our integration in various national and international working groups (e.g. COSS, ISG, SSG), we have the opportunity to offer our patients with this rare disease optimal care. Due to our center function, we also have easier access to innovative drugs, so that we can provide our patients with the best possible treatment according to the current state of knowledge. In addition to system therapy, the therapeutic spectrum also includes supportive therapy including palliative medicine, pain therapy, among others also ensured by our Pain Service and psycho-oncological care by the Psychosomatic Department in our hospital.
